PBL - What will the future ask of us?

Hi everyone,

Welcome back to my blog today I am going to be talking about our new PBL for this term. For Term 3 we are doing a new PBL and our question is... What will the future ask of us? We looked at the most biggest problems and this is what we all came up with... Poverty, climate change, global warming, Mental illness, pollution, bullying and discrimination so much problems could happen in the future, and this term we are trying to stop all of the problems from happening. We tried to come up with ways to stop these big problems from happening in the world.

We looked at how robots could take over the society by taking everyone's jobs. They could take everyone's jobs because you don't have to pay robots and you have to pay humans and robots could be programmed to work faster. The teachers made a padlet and on one side there was this question - What makes us different to robots? I said that we are all different and that humans have emotions and they can be more creative. Because robots are programmed so they get stuff on the internet and we have the brain to be creative. Then the second question was - What skill-sets will be valued in the future? I said that there has to be humans to be doctors and that doctors can talk to the patients and know there symptoms. An robots will just think the symptoms but what if they think the wrong symptoms.

Have you ever done this type of PBL?

What a great explanation of our PBL so far! You have included some great detail in this blog post. Your question got me thinking and personally I have never taught this PBL driving question before and I am learning so much too. It makes me think about what I am going to do to make sure this world is a better place in the future for all of you.
I was wondering if you have come up with any ideas to solve some of those problems you listed?
