Swimming lessons

Hi guys and welcome back to my week 4 blog post. Today I am going to talk about swimming lessons. Last week we started doing swimming lessons at QEII.  I really like swimming because it gives me alot of energy. In water safety we were in life jackets and it was really fun because we got on a boat and we all sat on the outside of the boat and did a safety fall in the water. My favourite type of swimming is freestyle because I can go faster then the other strokes. I really enjoyed swimming lessons through out the two weeks I am really looking forward to the next time we go.

Do you like Swimming?

Duathalon

Hey guys welcome back to my blog, today I will be talking about the Duathalon. On the 22nd of February the years 5 - 8's held a duathlon which I was in. There was the competitive one and the non- competitive one and I was in the competitive one. The non - competitive one is when you do the duathalon with a partner so one person does the running and one person does the biking and the competitive one is when you do by your self. I did all by myself because I wanted to try achieve and finish the race and I came third. I really enjoyed the duathlon I am looking forward to doing it next year.

Have you done the duathlon before?

Come and see our market day!!!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because … We worked more as a team and we had much more ideas. The structure of the table made it way better because it had more stable.
                                                                                                              Here is my Science template
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this… We made stress balls. We made them because they relieve stress and they help people when they are stressed.

My team made this…

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was… making the stress balls and selling them but I was so happy when they all had sold out.

Next time I would…  want to make more stress balls and be more organized. I should’ve made more stress balls we could sold much more at the market. I should’ve been more organized so I could get done faster and help each other when we need help.

What should I do next time?

Our Amazing Performance

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is where you are from,
stories, celebrations, religions and Traditions.
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage.
I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on
Maori legends.
I read Maui and the sun and Maui and the great fish.
I have written my own legend called Maui and the feathers
.
We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script,
some students took on the job of making all the artwork,
some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance
and drama.

Here are some photos:

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by Dancing.

I think the show might impact on others by watching my dances.

What I learned about working with others was It is fun working with other people.

Have you ever had a performance like this?

My Amazing Swimming Journey

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog today I will be talking to you about swimming. For the past two weeks we have been doing swimming lessons for the first week we were doing freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke in the second week we learned about water safety. On Wednesday we got put in life jackets and the instructors told us to get in the water and make a circle. We got in the circle to get warm so we didn't get hypothermia. On Thursday we went on a boat and the boat had a hole in it so we all had to get on the sides of the boat and jump off. I learned how to keep safe in the ocean and how to survive if the the boat had a hole in it. Swimming was so fun.

Here are some pictures of us.

I hope you enjoyed reading about my swimming journey.
Have you had your swimming lessons yet?

News Reporter 2: Your brother must be just like my brothers. We have interviewed our siblings about what they think about fortnite. Now here are there answers.
News Reporter 1: My brother said that he absolutely loves the game. He would play it so much if he was aloud. But mum and dad always tells him to get off fortnite.
News Reporter 2: My brothers really like fortnite and think it is worth playing. But surprisingly they have actually found a different game called Rocket league.
My Older brother said he likes how there is no big violence like bleeding. He likes that he can play with his friends and that there is a story behind it. The things he think could improve would be the guns and also he wants the double pump to come back.
