Our PBL for this term

Hi everyone, today I am gonna talk to you about my new PBL. This term for PBL we have been talking about discrimination. For PBL our driving question is "How do we speak up" I think we should speak up towards discrimination because in this world today discrimination has been a real habit and it has hurt alot of peoples feelings and if you don't know what discrimination is... it's sexism, racism, ageism and ableism. We are working on a project to try stop discrimination in New Zealand and all across the world. For my PBL I am going to be doing a poetry slam with a buddy and I am gonna be talking about the stereotype of hair colour

Have you been discriminated?

Come and see our market day!!!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because … We worked more as a team and we had much more ideas. The structure of the table made it way better because it had more stable.
                                                                                                              Here is my Science template
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this… We made stress balls. We made them because they relieve stress and they help people when they are stressed.

My team made this…

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was… making the stress balls and selling them but I was so happy when they all had sold out.

Next time I would…  want to make more stress balls and be more organized. I should’ve made more stress balls we could sold much more at the market. I should’ve been more organized so I could get done faster and help each other when we need help.

What should I do next time?

Team building

Hi guys welcome back to my blog today I'm going to talk about team building. The challenge we did was the spaghetti and marshmallow challenge. So we got given spaghetti and marshmallows and we had to build the highest tower and in my group I had Felicity ( Me ), Chanelle , Christopher, Quinn and Mia. So our idea was to make a triangle because that is the strongest shape in the world. We started stacking the spaghetti up on the triangle but then it started falling and there was ten minutes to go. So we tried to put sticks on the top and on the last second it fell. But I really think we worked well in our team.

Have you worked in a team?
